Bharat Anand is an award-winning digital media scholar and business leader recognized for his pioneering research on digital transformation and innovation. He currently serves as the Henry R. Byers Professor of Business Administration in the Strategy Unit at Harvard Business School (HBS).

Leveraging an interdisciplinary approach spanning technology, business strategy, and media, Prof. Anand has examined how traditional incumbents can thrive amid digital disruption across industries from education to entertainment. His acclaimed case studies on companies tackling this disruption are taught at leading business programs globally.

Prof. Anand previously held various executive roles leading product, content, and marketing teams at Bertelsmann and Time Warner. He helped establish multi-million dollar digitization efforts at elite university presses including Harvard University Press, Cambridge University Press, and Oxford University Press.

The former Vice President of Strategy and Watson Group VP continues to work closely with senior business executives and boards on digital strategies for the emerging information landscape. Prof. Anand has authored over 100 articles, cases, columns, and book chapters in addition to 12 books published by presses like Penguin Random House and Oxford University Press.

Recognized as a leading voice on digital transformation, he is a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Media Entertainment and Culture. Prof. Anand holds a PhD from Harvard University and AB from Harvard College, where he graduated magna cum laudePhi Beta Kappa.
