Dr. Luz Longsworth

Dr. Luz Longsworth is a trailblazing scholar and dynamic leader passionate about driving transformative change in education, leadership, and organizational culture. With over 25 years of experience, she has held executive posts in both academia and business across the Caribbean, including Jamaica, the British Virgin Islands (BVI), Belize, and Barbados. Her academic journey includes a Doctorate in Business Administration in Higher Education Management from the University of Bath in the United Kingdom. She also holds a B.A. in French and Spanish (First Class Hons.) and MBA (Marketing) degrees from the University of the West Indies, along with a Master of Arts degree in Hispanic Studies from Queen’s University, Ontario, Canada.  

Dr. Longsworth’s expertise extends beyond the classroom. She has served as the General Manager of La Moda Export Limited, a garment manufacturing company in Jamaica, and as the General Manager of Amicorp BVI, a financial services company in the BVI¹. Her research focus lies in leadership development, change management, and organizational development and transformation. Dr. Longsworth is a certified trainer in leadership courses for the internationally renowned John Maxwell Company and has facilitated training programs and workshops across the Caribbean and the United Kingdom for various organizations, including Sandals International, Scotiabank, and Ernst and Young.  

Keenly community-oriented, Dr. Longsworth has worked with at-risk youths in Western Jamaica, Belize, Barbados, and the British Virgin Islands. She has also served on the boards of several community-based organizations. Fluent in Spanish, with a good knowledge of French and German, she currently holds the post of Principal of the UWI Open Campus and Pro Vice-Chancellor (Global Affairs). Additionally, she chairs the UWI Press Board and was made an Honorary Fellow of the Commonwealth of Learning in 2016. Dr. Luz Longsworth’s commitment to education, leadership, and transformational impact continues to shape her remarkable career.
