Mrs. Sandrea Maynard

Mrs. Sandrea Maynard is a distinguished legal professional and academic leader currently serving as the Pro Vice-Chancellor of Global Affairs at The University of the West Indies (UWI). Mrs. Maynard qualified as a Barrister-at-Law and practiced privately (both domestically and internationally) and for the United Kingdom’s Crown Prosecution Service. Her legal expertise and experience laid the foundation for her subsequent academic journey.

Her transition to academia began as a senior lecturer in 2012, eventually advancing to the position of Associate Professor in Law. Her commitment to legal education and scholarship led her to hold senior leadership and management roles within UK universities. In these capacities, she actively drove the development of internationalization efforts in higher education, emphasizing global engagement and cross-cultural collaboration. 

Mrs. Maynard played an instrumental role in developing a national curriculum within the criminal justice sector in the United Kingdom. Her expertise contributed to shaping educational standards and ensuring the alignment of legal education with real-world needs. Additionally, she successfully secured significant government contracts related to legal training and capacity-building initiatives. Mrs. Maynard holds the position of Visiting Professor at two institutions in France. Her involvement in global executive training and governmental programs underscores her commitment to fostering international collaboration and knowledge exchange. In her current role as Pro Vice-Chancellor of Global Affairs at UWI, she coordinates strategic global initiatives, strengthens international partnerships, and promotes the university’s global reputation.
