Honorable Daryll Sylvester Matthew serves as the Minister for Education, Sports, and the Creative Arts in Antigua and Barbuda. Minister Matthew holds a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) with a specialization in International Business from Aston University in the United Kingdom. Additionally, he earned a Master’s Degree in Geo-Information Management from the University of Twente, Enschede in the Netherlands. His educational journey also includes a Diploma in Land Surveying from the University of Technology in Jamaica.
He served as the President of the Antigua and Barbuda Students Association in Jamaica and was a member of the Rotaract Club of Kingston, Jamaica during his university years. Back home (Antigua), he continued his involvement in the Rotaract Club and later joined the Rotary Club of Antigua. His passion for sports led him to become an elected member of the Executive of the Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association, where he served as President during specific terms.
Beyond sports, Minister Matthew has held several key positions. He was a Director of MYST Carnival, contributed to Trinity Academy (Secondary school in Antigua and Barbuda), and served as a Director of the Antigua Commercial Bank. His commitment to education, culture, and creative arts aligns with his current role as Minister, where he oversees critical areas such as education policy, sports development, and cultural enrichment.
