Mr. José Vanterpool currently serves in the capacity of Minister of Infrastructure, Communications, Utilities, Housing, Information Technology, and E-Government Services for the Government of Anguilla.
Mr. Vanterpool first entered public office in 2019 when he became Anguilla’s youngest parliamentarian at age 23 and demonstrates a strong focus on youth development, education, and economic diversification through digital transformation.
Mr. Vanterpool holds a Master of Engineering Degree with first class honours in Computer Science from the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Business Administration from the University of the West Indies Cavehill Campus. He is also trained and certified in Parliamentary Practice and International Good Governance by the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association and McGill University.
His academic and professional journey bridges the worlds of technology, policy, and sustainable development making him a strong advocate for leveraging emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence to solve real-world challenges in small island states and beyond.
He is the currently the Minister responsible for managing the .ai Top Level Domain and his research interests include public sector innovation, digital transformation for SIDS, and the future of sustainable governance.As both a policymaker and technologist, José is passionate about creating inclusive digital futures, empowering Caribbean voices in global tech conversations, and ensuring that innovation serves both people and the planet.
